Aquidneck Community Table’s Growers Markets provide easy access to seasonal, regionally-grown food and greater awareness of the benefits of eating fresh local foods for our health, the strength of our local economy, the viability of agricultural life, and the future of our earth. With a wide variety of vendors and regular attendance by hundreds of shoppers every week, our markets are lively places to visit.
Our marketplaces feature both organic and conventionally-grown products that include fresh vegetables, cut flowers, fruit, plants, eggs, breads, baked goods, meats, seafood, cheese and prepared foods. All markets feature a changing roster of local artisans and food businesses.
Aquidneck Community Table’s Growers Markets participate in the Fresh Bucks system that allows customers to buy market tokens with EBT cards for purchasing from all vendors. The same system allows us to offer Bonus Bucks (an additional $5 free for every $5 withdrawn) for fruit and vegetables to SNAP program customers. Click here for more information on this program. Many market vendors are also able to accept WIC and Senior Citizen vouchers; check at our Welcome Stall to learn more.
Our efforts to keep reusable material out of the municipal waste stream is supported by sales of our market tote bags — which saves using plastic bags, now banned on Aquidneck Island. ACT fully supports efforts to reduce single-use material. We provide a Bag Share Bin at our markets, for those who forgot to bring their reusable bags. We are always accepting reusable bag donations. Please bring donations to the market welcome stall at any market.
During the summer market season, we offer a free kid’s program, The Food Explorers, where children can sample the fresh fruit or vegetable of the week and gather stamps to add to their Food Passport!
We are honored to have been chosen as the Can't Miss Market for Rhode Island by New England Today Travel, a publication of Yankee Magazine. Read the full article here.
